Melinda Borysevicz
Melinda Borysevicz is an Italian-American figurative artist currently living and working in rural southern Italy. Her narrative portrait, figure and landscape paintings spring directly from her personal experience of having re-discovered her ancestral home and often reflect a more universal sense of longing and searching. The characters in her work are often either in motion or caught in an implied desire to move/escape, no longer completely satisfied to oblige the invention of boundaries or borders, be they physical, emotional or spiritual.
Borysevicz received a BFA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, GA) magna cum laude. In 2012 she founded the Studio School in Savannah GA, a small art school dedicated to classical painting techniques (now in new hands) and continues to teach painting workshops both in the States and abroad. Her work was recently selected for Manifest Gallery’s International Painting Annual as well as for Figurativas '19 at the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, where she has previously exhibited. She received a Certificate of Excellence in the Portrait Society of America's International Competition 2013, has been received awards in the Portrait Society of America's Members Competition and has been a finalist in ARC Salon, She has exhibited at the Museo Pablo Sarrano in Zaragosa Spain, the RJD Gallery in New York, Abend Gallery in Colorado, and numerous locations in Georgia, Virginia, Ohio, Texas, and Italy.
